I’ve spent the last 2 – 3 years of my life feeling like I’m standing at a fork in the road, and 8 months ago I chose to go down one path. I started working with a life coach on some ideas that I had, and it’s been incredibly helpful in getting me on the path that I’m on. Although I’ve been working in marketing for the last 20 years and I’ve made a very successful career of it, I’ve come to realize that this is not what I want to do for the rest of my work life.
After much deliberation, I’m transitioning out of the world of marketing and into the world of food. Now this doesn’t mean that I’m about to run out and quit my job tomorrow, but I’m taking a series of steps to give myself optimal exposure to all facets of the industry, and then I’m going to make a calculated step off the plank and launch myself into my new career. It's taken me a long time to say this, but now that I’ve said it out loud I have no choice but to follow through. :) I’m completing a Culinary Arts Certificate, which I'm hoping will help me become a better cook, modernize the recipes in my grandmother's cookbook and keep me focused on my journey.
Last winter, I completed the first course in my certificate and this spring, I’m enrolled in 2 other courses. I’m going to be blogging weekly about things that I either learn, products that I've found, recipes that I try, and from time to time I’ll publish one of Olive or Ruby’s recipes and share some stories about them.
