At the start of this year I had great plans to do a monthly recap of my foodie and non-foodie activities. I got the idea from my blogger friend Robyn, but this is the first month that I’ve actually got time to sit down and do it. Starting from Scratch: What You Should Know About Food and Cooking by Sarah Elton does just that. She breaks down the science of food and cooking into bite-sized and easily digestible pieces of information that cover everything from the chemistry of heat versus cold, fat versus acid, and salt versus sweet. A great read!
